Back in the late 70s and early 80s there was a recommendation to limit the amount of large game fish (Trout & Salmon) that you eat from the smaller great lakes (Erie & Ontario). Huron, Michigan, and Superior never had any recommended limits outside of a few small areas like Chicago, Gary, etc. Those recommendations were discarded in the late 80s. The lakes are even cleaner now then that were in the 80s.
Most of the water in Huron, Michigan, and Superior is clean enough to drink. Nature is incredibility efficient at filtering out the crud that we put in once we stop dumping it.
