| What if I said: Any car that does not come with it's own gas/power source is not worth buying.
In the end you need to have the car and fuel to run it, but nothing says you have to get both together
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we should only focus on one side of the CO2 issue, what I mean is that you do not need to deal with both at once. Besides, the destruction of the Amazon rainforest is only regulated by the nations with rainforest - so why add a whole extra layer of difficulty to an international protocol that needs to be ratified by countries that don't have any significant CO2 recycling abilities?
IIRC, most of the countries that are losing forest land are 2nd or 3rd world countries that would have a much harder time surviving without the additonal farmland. While the CO2 production is mostly from the "world leaders".
For the time being I'm personally satisfied to have CO2 production slowed (or at least an attempt) at the expense of the richest countries, rather than causing food shortages in the poorer countries. What I would prefer to see is a much more serious attempt to curb the greenhouse gas production. |
