Don't touch the fish. IIRC, consumption of those is limited to only a few a YEAR, because of toxins in their bodies.
Not sure about the other stuff, but just be careful with anything that eats from anything in the lakes.
Most large bodies of water have similar problems these days, sadly. If you do choose this, just make sure you know what the local pollution levels in each are. Not much point in being able to identify everything edible, if everything is contaminated in some way.
