A Rifleman's sling will be your best bet out of the gate. Properly adjusted it makes a great hasty sling, and it can also be used for position shooting.

El Cheapo but good version.

Check that site for other information and tools on match and distance shooting. Also to see if your barrel is floated wrap a dollar bill around it and see if it slides freely down to about 1" (or less) in front of the receiver. Does your rifle have a heavy or standard barrel?
