RFC: Military sling vs. Ching Sling vs... by plblark 2007-08-13 13:15:28
OK, I have a Winchester 70 in 270 intended for Bambi's Daddy. I'd also like to learn to use it out to ridiculous yardages. I've managed to make touching groups at 100 which is where I zeroed. Nice groups at 200, and on paper at 300. This is all with the help of a bench rest crutch which means it's all rifle and little user credit (I CAN hold over 11.9" for the 300 yd shot)

So, since Bambi's dad and his ilk are unlikely to hold still while I set up the bench rest, I need to get steadier. a sling seems to be the way to go. any online resources would be good. I've already read Cooper's Art of the Rifle (small book) and tried sitting supported with a simple sling.

Ideas? criticism? Outright opinion and vitriol?
