Chicago loves them no matter what. When they win, they're heroes, when they lose, the fans still love 'em. Cubs fans are loyal, not just fair weather.
Me, when I have the occasion to go to a game, I just got so sit back and hang out. One time, I had box seats to a hockey game, and had one of the most engaging conversations I've had with anyone. This guy was British through and through, almost to the point where I would have expected him to be drinking water bottled from the English channel. Not in a manner that was arrogant or conceited, though, just in a manner that was fun, and made him interesting to talk to.
For one thing, he was one of the only two people I've met face to face who knew about the faerie flags. And when I mentioned them, he got this twinkle of national pride in his eye. Our conversation was pretty much all over the board. While I don't remember all of it, I remember he was just very engaging.
Oh, and there was the hockey game, too. That was kinda neat to watch. |
