I have several large apple trees in my backyard. by dodrian2007-08-13 03:28:19
We put the apples (and pears) in wooden crates by ideur 2007-08-13 03:40:16
Some of them we put into the basement some others on the shaded and weather protected sides of the house. The crates on the outside got covered with old carpets to protect from freezing weather.

The fruits collected from the trees go into the crates, the fruits that fell of are for immediate use!

Keep those fruits cool and dry. every now and then sort out the bad ones. They should keep until next spring.
You can also make jam/marmalade; juice/cider or dry some of the fruits.
I would not freeze apples.

P.S.
The above info is from Switzerland, don't know where you are and what kind of climate you have.
