As we all know, carrying a condom on your person does not mean you're expecting to have sex, or that you're intending to. Whatever your reasons, it's a prudent practice, --- but I imagine that it feels a bit silly to carry a condom while you're intending to have no sex.
Either way, at some point you probably decided, for the first time, to put a condom in your pocket [1] which you might or might not need. When? Why? Was there a prompt, like a first relationship, or a holiday to Ibiza, or a birthday?
If you haven't, or won't, I'm also curious as to why. Does it feel too much like you're intending/expecting sex? Do you prefer to rely on your power to say 'stop'? Or maybe you don't expect it to be an issue, and carrying a condom feels unnecessary?
(Clarification: I don't necessarily mean continuous carrying. Some people like to keep one in their bag; some people only take some if they're going to a club, or a convention, or somesuch. You get the idea.)

Myself, I haven't ever carried a condom, or kept one in my room. I'll probably start carrying one (or two) once I'm in a relationship, and it gets to the point where I think sex might be on the books eventually. Although it would be wiser to start carrying now, I expect to have plenty of warning (days, weeks) if I get close enough to somebody to have sex with them (her, probably). Time enough for love (and to buy a condom).

Oh, additional question for the interested: when would you advise a teenage friend to (start) carry(ing) a condom (or two)? What about a son or daughter?
Me, I'd probably trust my children to work that out for themselves. If they (or a teenage friend) came to me doubting what to do, I'd tell them to carry one --- it never hurts, does it?

[1] Yes, I know, bad place to store a condom --- your body heat seakens the latex. Handbags are better.
