government, then. Somehow, I'm sure they can afford to hire one or two independent experts, to give them advice on how to protect people from rapacious practices.
From the link that vdp posted, it seems that there were much better, tighter regulations at one time. What happened? I see much distrust in the government from Americans here - it is a disturbing trend. Downright uncivilized, IMO. And it worries me; as a Canadian I'm likely to be adversely affected by disasters happening to our large Southern neighbour.
Any chance of reversing this trend? Government being mistrusted, and failing its responsibilities. |
