Just warning you all. I'm going to vent here for a moment on two unrelated subjects... (this is me being too lazy to start two new threads. :P)
*steps on soapbox*
Topic #1:
There are three words in the English language that I hate. Truly and utterly hate.
...Well at least the combination of the three.
Those three words are, in no particular order:
"continued...", "To" and "be". :-)
Just now watched part of an episode of Heroes. (I believe it's episode three or four) And it ended with those three words... Argh!!!!eleventybisquits
I know why they are there, and I know that with a series, you have to have someway of hooking your audience... but those three words! *sobs*
Topic #2:
Within a few days the Simpsons Movie will appear in the Dutch cinemas. And somehow, someone thought it would be great if they lipsync'ed the movie with Dutch voice actors...
Worst... idea... ever!
I mean,
1) The Simpsons is not a kids series, no matter how they want to spin it. And so far they've only lipsync'ed movies that were meant for kids.
2) The series has NEVER been translated here in NL. (except for the subtitles of course, but the series have never been lipsync'ed.)
3) The voice talent of Homer alone is to make you weep. Imagine the worst impersonation of Homer, multiply that by a thousand, and then draw a little "-" symbol in front of that number...
I'm sure the voice actor has done some great jobs, but from what I've heard on the previews... it's just bad. I haven't heard enough of Bart, Lisa, Marge or Maggie, or any of the other characters to form an opinion on that.
And there is the question of "Why?". I don't want to sound like Comic book guy, but I simply can't listen to a Dutch Homer saying "D'oh" without cringing.
Thank Zeus, that they also opted to show it in the original English version... I just can't help but wonder how much money was spent on this idea. |
