I used to work for a major insurance firm. My luck was that I got tagged to be the point man involved with the making sure the database systems were in line with the data handling requirements set forth in HIPAA. Needless to say, I was neck deep in that stuff for about a year. HIPAA is a real pain for the medical industry, and we are all paying for the overhead it caused.
