doesn't imply you can't reason at all....

Guns definitely have other design goals - I'm not contesting that. Some guns are designed to be small, others are designed to spit out loads of bullets very fast, others are designed to kill big game.

But killing is the fundamental design axiom. Anything designed without that goal really doesn't fit the definition of "gun" as we (or at least I) are using it in this discussion. Both CynicalRyan and yourself have constantly attempted to sidetrack the discussion with airguns and other things not at issue. I didn't feel the need to list the precise weapons I'm talking about - but that is no excuse for turning it into a red herring. Getting hidebound by definitions is a sure-fire way to kill a discussion (this thread is a perfect example!)
