Need help from CA based UFies by darthludi 2007-07-29 11:51:19

Two of my friends and myself are planing to go on a 4-week road trip leading from SF to SF, via Sacramento, Las Vegas, San Diego and LA. Since we don't want to book any hotels/motels in advance (& to have some kind of security in case of a car break down) we need a phone. Also, we don't want to pay any roaming fees for our current (non-US) plans.

Can anyone supply me with information on prepaid cellular plans that do not require you to buy a phone with it? I tried it via www.myrateplan.com, but it (seemingly) only returns plans bundle'd with phones.

Thanks in advance for anything even slighty helpful
