It's now been renumbered, officially due to problems with theft of the signs. (There are those who suspect a less practical reason was really driving the change, however.) The new route designation is 491, and the change took place on July 30, 2003. I drove a bit of it just before the change was made, and yes, there were places where the signs had clearly been defaced or stolen. A local told me that she was sure the thefts and vandalism were by people from elsewhere, as the vast majority of the area residents didn't have any issues with the route number at all.
