Invoke UFicle: Read-only issues in WinXP by FNORDer 2007-07-29 02:08:47
So I've installed a game that needs to update before I can use it (strange but true). Only EVERY time I run the update program I get the message that all but ONE of the files couldn't be updated because the files are set to read-only. And EVERY time I go into explorer to make the files writeable, it goes through the motions and does nothing.

This is the fourth time I've installed the game, and I'm about ready to chuck it, and call it a day.

Anyways. Any idea as to why the file permissions aren't changing? I have Admin rights as I'm the only user (To recap this is WinXP SP2). If so, HOW do I fix it? I'd really like to have to avoid installing any programs but as long as it's small, easily added, and removed I don't mind.

PS HELP!
