The goblins (the sane ones, at least) can tell when you really truly mean it, and they go elsewhere. They want to jack you up, but it's not worth dying for. If they can tell you *are* willing to end them if they persist, it's amazing how fast they come up with other things to do. (And so *because* you are _willing_ to kill if you are given no other choice, you don't *have* to. The goblins go elsewhere, and nobody gets hurt.)
