To give you an answer: It is simply impossible, since the gun uses a well understood physical principle. Building a gun, just one that is able to inflict a deadly wound, is trivial to build (a factor of mass of the round and the velocity of the round).

You'd have to eradicate the science of physics to undo guns.

And to answer the historical implications: People were able to kill and harbor nasty thoughts about their neighbor for a long time before guns existed. They used swords, axes, bows, spears, rocks.
