My thought on "Gun Control" by aix tom 2007-07-27 12:33:09
All "Gun Control" ever can do ( with more or less limited success ) is control guns.

It can never really control how people act and treat each other.

So in my opinion trying to control the crime rate by taking away guns from people, or giving more guns to people, is rather pointless.

Then what level of "Gun Control" would be right in my opinion?

Well, my default "Any government should leave the [law abiding] citizen alone as much as possible" would kick in then.

Which would probably mean some sort of license with a background check whether someone is connected to any illegal activities, and some basic test regarding gun handling and safety rules.

So what level of gun control do you thing is right? ( Note : If you think about answering "None at all!!", then that would imply you think it's perfectly OK to officially sell guns in vending machines all over the place, and publish the location of that machines on Google Maps. ;-) )
