"It's not exactly rocket surgery!" It IS fairly complex. You're basically flying a BRICK with tons of explosives strapped to it. However, I have to agree with the unnamed astronaut. They keep the crew under fairly close observation for a few days before launch. It would be a Bad Thing if one of them decided to go for Mexican food or something and wound up with a case of explosive diarrhea. I just don't see the opportunity for them to have a pre-launch kegger. And their pressure suits aren't exactly equipped with any good place to store a hip flask.
