Vista XP question : by klar_at_work2007-07-27 07:36:49
OEM box? or off the shelf? by mekkanik_mike 2007-07-27 07:51:43
dont think you get the choice when it's off the shelf. What you pay for would be what you get...

if it's OEM, talk to the manufacturer I guess... What I have done at home is this:
- It came with Vista Home basic
- so i created a recovery DVD for that, and slapped in my original off the shelf XP home, and installed and activated that. Getting the drivers was a PITA but I got it done finally.
- Now I can switch back to Vista when i want as I do have a Vista OEM license for this box.
- Plus, I also have Vista Ultimate sitting around so I probably wont install home basic again. I go the whole hog and install Ultimate. :)
