But I don't think the LEDs on the camera are "pure" IR - I can see a reddish glow from them that I know the cats can make better use of than I can.

How it was filmed is even more fun. The computer is set to capture a still photo from the video feed every second when motion is detected in the "hot area" of the picture. I took the resulting pictures and created a slideshow in Adobe Premiere with a framerate of 3 frames per picture, no delay or transition between pics. This created the resulting apparent time lapse. The actual time was from approx 11PM to 7AM, the actual times are on the bottom of the frames. No pictures were captured unless there was motion.
