Yes slower, and file copying is not as fast as XP, something I expect the next service pack to fix...
The new power management is much more adjustable than XP.
Vista is not THAT different to XP, after using it for a couple of months, I find it as easy to use as XP, and most things are in a similar place, and similar layout. the only bone of contention is the convoluted networking dialogs, even if they have added some nice security features, i.e. different security for different networks.
Most of the rest of the features can be easily found in free third party programs...
For a desktop PC I would go for XP.
For a Laptop, I would consider Vista if its a fast dual core, and you wont be playing games or running legacy programs. |
