Troops as another tribe. That is the way they think about things and IMO is a good thing! It means that they are accepting the Troops and will begin to help them more and more to do what is necessary so that the troops can leave and they can do the job themselves.

This is one thing that you seem to trip over quite a bit in dealing with things in Iraq and that part of the world. They think in terms of tribes like you would think of Family and neighborhoods. If they consider you a member of a Tribe, that is a HUGE step up from "ifidel" or "invader."

As for the weapons, It could be good and it could be bad. If they use the weapons to throw out those people causing unrest and to AID in peacekeeping it will be a good thing. If they use them to start killing people who happen to disagree with them or turn into a lynch mob, then it is a bad thing. It is all in what they do with them over time that will tell.
