The question that maybe needs to be asked is, by Peace_man 2007-07-10 08:43:02
why there suddenly is a 'new tribe' in Iraq? From your first link in the TLP:
For many Iraqis, we have morphed from being invaders to occupiers to members of a tribe. I call it the “al Ameriki tribe,” or “tribe America.”
If the US is truly effective in helping, then it should be seen as not just another tribe, but as showing a different way - a way that doesn't see tribes, but individuals. As the article shows, the US military cannot create long-term positive changes by just being another tribe.

Instead, I would like to direct your attention to an article from yesterday's news that recommends arming the Iraqi population. The situation in Iraq is so lawless and barbaric that I actually see guns in every household as a benefit - a necessity for beginning the peace process.

Get rid of that extra tribe that only complicates things and start anew. From the ground up, individual neighbourhoods, families and tribes working together, and eventually forging bonds of respect with other, similar groups, to finally form a nation again based on mutual respect and desire for peace.
