Company Security policy question/rant by Classic_jon 2007-07-10 07:53:51
Why would a company:

A) use three different contractors to support their system. One to do the Intranet, one to do their connection through a proxy to the internet, and one to do the desktops and store level networking?

B)Why would the company that is running the Intranet block *ALL* websites on the internet except for specific ones and for some reason...not have the ability to add other sites temporarily without allowing access to the entire internet?

C) Not open the necessary website for me to train the stores at a time specified almost TWO weeks AGO....

Background:
I set up a stand alone training for a large cellular chain with our normal web siminar set up. They have trained through this setup and site several times before and know how it works.

I talked with their main hardware tech (who definitely knows what he is doing BTW!) and it boils down to this. Their inranet people will NOT open the ability to get to the training site unless it is to be a permanant thing. But the silly part of that is that they will open up the *ENTIRE INTERNET* to the locations during the training instead... It makes no sense to me security wise to do it that way....

So, currently...I am on hold right now while their Technician gets back to the office to change the security settings to let their people get to the training website....going on 45 minutes now....
