I can has Windows geek points? by romandas 2007-07-10 07:10:24
Just figured out how to make use of 15 GB of silly space on a second drive: mount it as Program Files.

Now, I know what you're thinking.. learning how to mount a Windows partition as a directory is not geek-point worthy; any Linux geek understands this as well as breathing. However, I submit to you that I figured out how to do it without using a Live CD or freeware tool.

1) Mounted new partition as c:\temp
2) Copied all of Program Files to temp
3) Reboot into safe mode command line to delete all files and folders in Program Files (won't let you otherwise; access denied or 'in use')
4) Still at command line, use diskpart to mount volume as Program Files.
5) Reboot; enjoy.
6) Btw, you should remove the c:\temp mount point once you've rebooted.
