But if it's blowing into the oil pan it's getting past the piston rings somehow. Probably back pressure through the valves, down the oil passages and into the pan. But there are easier ways for it to escape. If you decide to let them do the work and have concerns, be there when they do it and ask to see the parts replaced as you watch them remove them. Clogged cats are very obvious.
