With laptops you can't really fix them yourself like with a desktop. Their service is dairly decent, even on the low-end machines. I don't think that they sell XP anymore (I will admit that I haven't checked.) Do not buy a Compaq laptop. Their servers are excellent, their laptops are sub-par. Also, because you want a lappy, don't buy a no-name brand - if they go out of business you are totally screwed.
