Gah, Stupid Speedbumps of Damage-Your-Car by jayfarm2007-07-09 15:08:33

Higher performance cars with good ground effects are particularly difficult to get over those things w/o damage. I think that there should be standards (height vs width) as well. The road to the place where I keep my boat has 6 of those darn things on the way in (and out, of course). It's narrow, with tight drives, and a 15MPH limit, so no one should be with any speed, so I understand trying to reinforce that, but I have to take the front up and down them slipping the clutch and braking on the backside to avoid crunching. If that's not annoying enough the folks who live along there have no problem parking half way into the road, greatly increasing the chances of encountering someone coming from between the cars.

There is something else going on here, and that's the ever increasing number of off-road (or wanabe) vehicles (SUVs, etc) which have a higher tolerance for such. I have a feeling that they up the ante significantly and that the speed bump instigators feel a need to keep up. I've had more than one of those vehicles get annoyed with how slowly I was going over the bumps...
