Aaaargh! Need Car Help! by RetiQlum22007-07-09 16:32:19
Door surgery likely needed. by werehatrack 2007-07-09 19:23:16
If this one's like many others, there's a plastic clip that retains the lock operating rod into the hole on the latch assembly's arm. If the rod has popped out, sometimes you'll get lucky and just need to pop it back in. If the plastic clip has broken, you *may* be able to get the clip by itself as a replacement part. There's also a possibility that a spring in the latch has broken; if so, the latch will need to be replaced.

Door latch replacement is not one of my favorite tasks; the d3 clips used to mount the interior trim panels have a nasty habit of breaking or otherwise rendering themselves useless when the panel is pulled off, and there are usually concealed sharp edges inside the door just waiting to get a chance to slice up your arm. If you decide to tackle the job yourself, exercise caution when groping around inside the door cavity.
