My SO's son, graduated from high school and working this summer before entering University, is now buying foodstuffs and soda and KEEPING THEM IN HIS BEDROOM.
Um... this is the kid who eats MY restaurant leftovers without ever asking. And, all he has to do is *ask* and we buy stuff for him that no one else even likes.
I told my SO if his son wants to assert his independence, I can always charge him RENT, but that the keeping food in his room will stop *now* or else. He's shown he's not interested in being 'family,' so if he wants to play 'tenant,' I'm happy to help him along.... charging for laundry, making him pay for kitchen privileges, and the like.
