I know plenty of people who grew up in a family "active" in the faith, but the person himself is not. Loads of people leave off going to church when they go off to college or leave home.

Often the hiring comes down to "so-and-so's kid needs a job, will work cheap, is clean-cut and behaves himself" so they hire him without much thought or inquiry on whether anyone has really seen him gracing a pew in the last few months.

They *may* or *may not have* been heavy on the revival-meeting style of things. Not that it helps the overall case any. But being hired to help out a couple weeks at Bible Camp is hardly prima facie evidence of being a religious whackjob.
