Holy deitus interruptus! by hactar the uhhh 2007-07-09 16:44:47
Excuse my pseudo-latin.

A very close friend got an e-mail from his girlfriend of 1 year saying that God had spoken to her and told her to stop having sex until she got married. He called her and they had about a 10-minute conversation after which he broke up with her.

Now she's calling me asking why he broke up with her. Uhhh...is that even a real question? She's never been particularly religious in the past, but she recently got back from a 2-week stint at a bible camp helping the kids there.

So, my question is a two-parter:
1.) Seeing as sex is an important part of a relationship (at least to me, but it's not even close to everything a relationship is) how can you just "cut someone off" because you think God told you to?
2.) Breaking up with someone who doesn't want to have sex with you seems perfectly natural to me. She's making it out like he's shallow and single-minded. I've known him for 5 years and he's the kindest person you could ever meet. (Also a member of my paintball team)

I realize this could be construed as flame-bait but I've watched this community long enough to know that the intelligence level is higher than the norm. That's why I posted here:)
