person. If there is not a manager available, I ask to cancel my account. If it's something like the cable company (who has a monopoly), then I will call in and call in and call in and call in until I finally get something done. Typically, though, I call in and just get things done. Politeness and soft words go a long way. A loud word following a large number of soft words can go even longer.
