OSS and free as in beer, but limited to Linux, and the *BSDs as host (and Windows requires hardware extensions to be virtualized).
Then there is OpenVZ (Virtuozzo is the commercial package for that), which is limited to Linux.
Furthermore there's MS Virtual PC and VirtualBox (similar to VMware Server), where the former is limited to Windows, and the latter is available for Linux, too (same company that worked on Virtual PC before MS bought them).
