What good free compilers are there for windows by Cokish 2007-07-09 08:44:30
I need to build and compile smallish windoze (XP) applications.

I'm completely Eclipse+Java mindend and my last (win/dos) compiler environment was Borland C (for win 3.11).

I used cygwin+gcc in the past, but I need to build a native windows application preferably without cygwin dlls.
(Due to GPL licences,etc.)

A good IDE+debugger would be nice as well which can dig into (native) dlls for example.

Can Eclipse be used as windows IDE with some (opensource/free) compiler backend ?

What are my options here as I have no idea where to start ?
