How to adopt a puppy.
Step One: Drive to the nearest animal shelter & wait for them to open their doors.
Step Two: Walk up & down the aisles, looking at each & every dog, until you find the one that tugs your heartstrings the most.
Step Three: Sit down in the "Let's Get To Know Each Other" area & play with said puppy until you're absolutely positive it's the Right One.
Step Four: Allow Animal Handler to pry said precious pooch from your hands so you can fill out all the paperwork, pay the fees, and agree to come back in two days after puppy has been fixed/inoculated/et al.
Step Five: Spend the next four hours in PetSmart buying all the nifty things your new puppy will love (a bed, chew toys, a water dish, food dish, Advantix anti-flea/tick drops, et cetera)
Step Six: Stare at your watch, the clock, the VCR, and anything that displays the time, waiting for the time when you can go collect your new puppy & bring it home.
My Mom & Dad decided they wanted a dog, so they started looking through all the "Adopt-A-Pet" sites for the area until they found one they liked.
We went to the Animal Control & Adoption Center near Old Sac this morning & adopted her.
They're naming her "Scooter" and I'll post pics as soon as she gets to Mom's on Thursday.
