<insert 64-bit frustration> by romandas 2007-07-03 14:07:32
Knowing that 64-bit hardware has been out for a bit, and also discovering (perhaps silly of me) that my desktop processor actually is a 64-bit one, even though I've been running 32-bit XP and 32-bit Gentoo Linux on it.. I decided to make the switch to 64-bit over the weekend.

Everything seemed to go smoothly. Used the same partitioning scheme, so once I recompiled Firefox, OO.o, and Thunderbird.. and they all came up peachy. Until I tried to do anything flash-related. Or sound-related. Or video-related.

I think I got the video thing figured out (well, I just switched from using gxine to vlc) though no win64codecs? Carp.
No Adobe flash player release for 64 bit? And who knows what the sound issue is yet.

Feh. I know there's a certain level of pain one accepts for using Linux, more so with Gentoo than with others.. and this probably isn't even much, but d4 it's annoying. And who knows what else I tend to use that hasn't made the switch yet.
