He has a tremendous fine to pay (although apparently he has some supporters fund-raising for that). He'll be on probation for quite a while; and it's not clear that he'll be able to practice law again.

He will, no doubt, be able to make a good living by writing political commentary and giving speeches; but he would have been able to do that even if he had served time (as witness G. Gordon Liddy).

I do not at all follow the argument that this commutation of sentence "makes a mockery of the ability of the courts to maintain a balance of power".
