| I didn't say it lightly. Finding where I got the information is left as an exercise for the skeptic. A hint: the research deals with the concept of media bias and the tendency of reporters who label themselves progressives to criticize the politicians who supposedly represent progressive interests. It's a lot more likely that progressive media will criticize a progressive candidate or officeholder than that conservative media will criticize a conservative candidate or officeholder.
However, it's a bit different when talking about politicians' behavior among themselves; they do tend to close ranks -- so let's exaggerate a bit to make a point. If there's a .001% chance that a Republican is willing to investigate/criticize/chastise a fellow Republican, and a .002% chance of a Democrat being willing to investigate/criticize/chastise a fellow Democrat, then BOTH of them are damned unlikely to call BS on a member of their own party -- but a Democrat is also still TWICE as likely to do so. |
