Multiple different LCDs, tried both DVI and VGA connections, with multiple OSes... NONE of the combinations of hardware, software, and software options produced what I would consider acceptable antialiasing in fonts. They either go blurry ("need 1/4-size pixels at 4x the resolution for acceptable behaviour") or I get a disturbing blue/red colour separation. (Which I saw happen for other reasons on a CRT once, and it's *worse* than the blurry fonts. O_o)
There are actually only two RGB patterns in use, based on the options I see for font antialiasing; as well as a rare horizontal-vs-vertical orientation for the pixel "sub-bars". (RGB or BGR, with vertical bars [most common] or horizontal bars) |
