need to read (if you haven't already) Out of the Silent Planet and Perelandra, by C.S. Lewis. (That Hideous Strength, the last book of the trilogy, is also good but not so relevant here.) Perelandra in particular displays very much the same approach to the Temptation and Fall as you've developed. That is a much better approach to the story taken literally.

Tangential Point 1: "Eureka" moments are fine - as long as you don't jump out of the bathtub and run naked down the street :-P

Tangential Point 2: I suppose then that I should beware of Germans bearing Gifts as well? And watch out for anyone trying to tell me I'm Gifted? ;-)
