| In A Canticle For Leibowitz, there is a dialogue between a Catholic priest and an Old Jew (Benjamin ben-Eleazar, I think). The priest has just come out with some tortuously worded description of his understanding of God, and the Old Jew teases him about how legalistic his wording is. But then he adds, "Never mind. I use quite a few words myself, but I'm never quite sure He and I mean the same thing either."
That's a really good book. I suggest that to everyone who seems vaguely interested in these sorts of topics.
