Religion was a *tribal* issue much more than an individual issue. God tapped Abraham because he was a righteous man... but the covenant was "you will be my people, and I will be your God" (in the plural sense).
By welfare, I was referring more to political decisions, rather than agricultural. Democracy and individual rights did NOT fit into the societies of the time. Pharaoh was given loads of chances...including having the message delivered by someone who was far from a stranger. |
