That'd be bad for my case, your honor. ;)

The problem you introduce, is that God allows for free will, but still wants people to act in he way He deems correct. Which is contrary to free will, as this has to allow for the possibility to defy God's will. And maybe even get away with it without consequences (or at least similar consequences to the choice God deems as best).

And being thrown out of Paradise, the perfect place, and being denied entry by an angel with a flaming word on the pain of death is a punishment.

and I don't think those would've been the necessary consequences, as knowledge is necessary for a free will, too, since, without it, we aren't much better than animals in our decision making.
