Only History books. The Old Testament by CynicalRyan 2007-07-03 06:52:10
is, as a historical source, essentially worthless.

And I don't think that the Israelites were particularly "ready" for war, after a 40 year trek through the desert.

And even though people have a good idea what to worship in a god, this doesn't make God exempt from living up to his own standards. Otherwise, there's no point in regard to me or you being held to standards, since we would have a higher authority (Kings were appointed in God's name) as a cop out.

Anyway: God made Himself "known" already, since he spoke to his believers (he handed the 10 Commandments down, the Burning Bush was talking, he created a pillar of fire (at least according to the German Lutheran translation I'm familiar with) to guide the Israelites, He told Noah to build the ark, he told Moses to go to the Pharaoh. A teleportation wouldn't have changed much (if He wanted to, which he didn't, if the Exodus is any hint on that).
