Truly, a Being that can be glorified as "good", when one of its commandments (for the beings created in its own image) is "Thou shalt not kill".
Or to whom it is okay, to sell a daughter into slavery, or stone a person wearing different kinds of fabrics (see Leviticus). And either the Bible is the Word of God, and thus God is not a good person, or the Bible isn't the Word of God, and we are back at square one: What is God?
Besides, the Exodus showed that god didn't have to kill to get the Israelites out of Egypt. Or didn't have to have a human sacrifice (see Burning bush), or was able to feel mercy (since Jacob wasn't eaten by the lions), or that Jesus was sent to Earth as saviour of all mankind.
Makes God's acts even more horrible, IMO. |
