I've been where you are longer than you've been alive.

Barring a weight-related medical condition (in which case exercise either won't help, or is a necessity for you to keep living, neither of which you've mentioned, so we can discount it), yes, it eventually boils down to you're fat because you're too lazy to be *in shape* (not skinny).
