46 foot tank = shrapnel fly about 100 feet if it bursts
2 foot gas bottle = shrapnel fly about 4 feet if it bursts?

So far the only "gas bottle explosions" with any bigger damage I have managed to find were incidents where the gas leaked into a house/room/compartment for some time until there was an explosive gas/air mixture, which then caused the explosion. Otherwise there were mostly burn injuries as a result.
