cron/ping network check by carthax 2007-06-17 14:22:54
Hi all.

I'm trying to figure out how to create a script that will run every 30-60 seconds (either-or), which will append both a ping command and a timestamp to a text file.

Our cable connection has been... rather spotty, at best, for the past several months. We are trying to gather data on when it's down and for how long so we can ask Comcast for a $[discount/rebate/free month].

I'm asking here because I know someone out there knows how to do it, and because my connection doesn't stay up long enough to reliably spend any time researching.

Thanks!
